Amnesty International accuses the Israeli government of ethnic cleansing in the occupied West Bank. According to Amnesty, Israeli authorities have implemented unlawful measures since December 2025 to dispossess Palestinians and make the annexation of the territory an irreversible reality. These measures, the group says, facilitate the takeover of more Palestinian land, authorize a record number of new settlements, expand existing settlements, and formalize the registration of West Bank land as Israeli state property. Amnesty also states that the current Israeli government has turbocharged its efforts to expand settlements and entrench occupation and apartheid, amid the conflict in Gaza. According to Amnesty.org, the Israeli government is accused of using war crimes to accelerate annexation and settlement expansion. Amnesty.org further reports that Israeli authorities have unleashed a series of unlawful measures in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. NPR reports that Amnesty says the Israeli government is deliberately trying to make annexation irreversible. Amnesty.org also states that the Prime Minister of Israel is wanted by the International Criminal Court on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
