U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, along with partners from the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the state of Florida, conducted a statewide operation from April 21 to April 26 that resulted in 1,120 arrests of criminal illegal aliens, the largest number in a single state in one week in ICE’s history. Sixty-three percent of those arrested had prior criminal arrests or convictions. Among those arrested were 378 individuals with final orders of removal issued by an immigration judge. Officers arrested individuals including violent offenders, gang members, sex offenders, fugitives from justice, and others who pose significant public safety threats, according to flgov.com. Another account, reported by cbs12.com and attributed to Governor Ron DeSantis, states that Florida’s Operation 'Tidal Wave' — an eight-month effort involving collaboration with numerous local law enforcement agencies under the 287(g) program and deployment of as many as 250 local, state, and National Guard resources, according to tallahassee.com — resulted in more than 10,400 arrests and is the largest joint immigration enforcement effort in ICE history. Governor DeSantis stated that Operation 'Tidal Wave' will continue in Florida.
