Apple's HomeKit Secure Video service is being updated with AI capabilities to provide more descriptive alerts from connected cameras and allow users to search footage using natural language. According to MacObserver.com, the application will analyze recorded videos from compatible cameras and generate text descriptions of events, such as a delivery driver dropping off a package. Search results will prioritize the most important moments, and footage from multiple camera angles may be compiled to provide a complete view of an event. Video captured by cameras is privately analyzed and encrypted on home hub devices such as Apple TV 4K or HomePod, then securely uploaded to iCloud, where only the user and shared contacts can view it. iCloud+ subscribers can access up to 10 days of activity from one or more cameras, with storage plans supporting one, five, or unlimited cameras depending on the tier. Video content does not count against iCloud storage limits. According to The Verge, the Apple Home app is also receiving AI-powered notifications and will soon include energy reporting. iOS 27 brings these AI-powered summaries, natural-language search, and improved reliability to HomeKit Secure Video. Apple stock has neared record highs in recent weeks following the announcement of a Google AI partnership and strong sales of the latest iPhones. John Ternus, who will replace Tim Cook as CEO in September, was not featured during the keynote presentation.
