A Qatari LNG tanker was hit by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, caught fire, and was joined by two additional tankers that were also struck by projectiles, one of which was hit by a drone. The incidents occurred near the coast of Oman and no injuries were reported among the crews of the struck vessels.

Iranian state television said the Qatari LNG tanker was attacked after ignoring warnings, but did not directly claim responsibility. Qatar blamed Iran for the attacks and said Iran is fully responsible. Oman proposed a temporary transit corridor hugging its coastline, a suggestion that Iran opposed.

According to Al Arabiya, the Saudi VLCC Wedyan was involved in an incident in the Strait of Hormuz, remained seaworthy, its cargo was secure, and all crew members were safe. Al Arabiya also reported that the Liberian‑flagged M/T Cyprus Prosperity was attacked and that the U.S. military launched a series of powerful strikes against Iran in response to the attacks on ships.

Middle East Eye reported that maritime authorities raised the threat risk for transiting vessels to "severe" after the attacks and that four oil and gas tankers turned back from the Strait of Hormuz after the vessel attacks.
