Rockstar Games announced that players can upgrade older versions of Grand Theft Auto V to current-generation consoles, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, for free starting June 18. The company made the announcement as part of an update to GTA Online, according to The Verge. The upgrade is available before GTA VI launches.

According to Kotaku, PC players with the Legacy edition of Grand Theft Auto V can also upgrade to the Enhanced edition for free. The PC Enhanced edition includes PC-exclusive features such as ray-traced ambient occlusion and global illumination, as reported by Engadget. Engadget further noted that the current-generation version of Grand Theft Auto V for consoles features visual enhancements and performance boosts, such as faster switching between protagonists. Additionally, players can transfer their save data and Online progress when upgrading to the current-generation version.

The Kortz Center Heist update will include adding an art studio to mansions, according to Kotaku. While the current-generation version of Grand Theft Auto V for consoles was initially available as a paid upgrade, as reported by Engadget, the new free upgrade option is now in effect.
