A fire broke out at a 10‑storey apartment block in the Linkeroever district of Antwerp, Belgium. The building housed more than 200 residents. Several people were killed and several were injured, and the fire sent plumes of smoke into the air.

Reports differ on the death toll: gdelt cited at least five fatalities, and also reported six fatalities. Police spokesperson Kim Bastiaens, as quoted by gdelt, said at least five people have died.
