An explosive device detonated at a café in central Damascus that was located near the Palace of Justice, a key government building. The blast was reported as the deadliest attack in the city since a suicide attack on a church the previous year, and no organization has claimed responsibility for the incident.

Reports on the death toll vary. Some outlets reported that the bombing killed at least five people, while others said six or nine people died. A Western source stated the death count was at least four, and a Turkish outlet reported that as many as twenty‑one people were killed. Injury figures also differ: several sources cited sixteen injured, others reported twenty or twenty‑two injured, and a Western source mentioned at least ten injuries. France24 noted at least ten injured, and Hindustan Times described the number as “several.”

According to Al Arabiya, the explosive device weighed around one kilogram and was packed with metal shrapnel. Al Arabiya also reported that security forces immediately imposed a security cordon around the site and that forensic teams began work at the explosion site, collecting evidence. The South China Morning Post said ambulances responded, weaving through traffic with sirens.

The incident remains under investigation, and authorities have not identified any group responsible for the bombing.
