A Vadakara court granted police two‑day custody of DYFI leader Jithin Bhaskar, according to *The Hindu*. The special investigation team arrested Bhaskar, a native of Thiruvallur, as reported by *Keralakaumudi.com*.

The arrest was recorded at the office of the Vadakara Crime Branch team, *Keralakaumudi.com* added. Bhaskar was summoned by the special investigation team for questioning on the day of the report and was questioned twice, the outlet said.

The prosecution submitted that custodial interrogation was necessary to ascertain whether Mr. Bhaskar had used a computer or any other digital device to create the disputed screenshot and to recover electronic evidence relevant to the investigation, *The Hindu* reported.

Earlier information indicated that Bhaskar first posted the screenshot in a WhatsApp group called Vadakara Squad, which was formed just before the Lok Sabha elections and included leaders of the Vadakara Block DYFI Committee and the Vadakara Mandal CPM, according to *Keralakaumudi.com*. The Kafir screenshot was circulated against the UDF candidate during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the outlet noted. Police initially accused Youth League activist Muhammad Kasim of the case, *Keralakaumudi.com* reported.
