Ghana and Burkina Faso have begun a week-long series of bilateral engagements to reaffirm and jointly manage their shared land boundary, a move expected to deepen cooperation and strengthen regional integration.
The meetings, which started in Pô, Burkina Faso, with a session of the Joint Land Boundary Technical Committee, will culminate in the signing of key documents and the relaunch of the Joint Ghana–Burkina Faso Land Boundary Reaffirmation Exercise at Dakola on June 22, 2026.
The engagements follow three framework agreements and memoranda of understanding signed by the foreign ministers of both countries in February this year to facilitate the joint management of their shared boundary.
Activities lined up for the week include a review of the roadmap and modalities for boundary reaffirmation, consultations involving border regions from both countries, the inauguration of the Joint Ghana–Burkina Faso Land Boundary Technical Committee, and the official relaunch of the boundary reaffirmation exercise.

Ghana and Burkina Faso Border authorities have commenced a week-long series of bilateral engagements, aimed at advancing the reaffirmation joint management of their common land boundary.
The activities which began on Monday 15 June 2026 at Pô, Burkina Faso, with the Meeting of the Joint Land Boundary Technical Committee, is expected to culminate in the signing of the official documents in Pô, and the relaunch the Joint Ghana–Burkina Faso Land Boundary Reaffirmation Exercise at Dakola in Burkina Faso on 22 June 2026.
The engagements underscore the commitment of both countries to peaceful coexistence, cross-border cooperation and regional integration.
These engagements are in pursuant to three Framework Agements and Memoranda of Understanding signed by the Foreign Ministers of Ghana and Burkina Faso in February this year to promote the Joint Management of the common land boundary.

A statement issued by the Public Relations Unit of the Ghana Boundary Commission on Tuesday, said engagement activities started on Monday, June 15,2026, in Pô, Burkina Faso, with the meeting of the Joint Land Boundary Technical Committee.
The meetings are expected to culminate in the signing of official documents in Pô and the relaunch of the Joint Ghana–Burkina Faso Land Boundary Reaffirmation Exercise at Dakola on June 22, 2026.
The statement said the engagements followed three Framework Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding signed by the Foreign Ministers of Ghana and Burkina Faso in February this year to facilitate joint boundary management.
