has confirmed.
The film, starring Andrew Garfield as the controversial
OpenAI
CEO, will be shopped to other studios. The move notably comes after Amazon struck a massive partnership with the tech company in February to expand OpenAI’s use of Amazon Web Services and develop custom AI models, which included a $50 billion investment on Amazon’s part.

Amazon is walking away fromArtificial, a nearly complete movie about Sam Altman, just months after striking a deal with ChatGPT company OpenAI.
The company chose to drop its involvement in the biopic following multiple private test screenings and confirmed the news in a statement sent toPuck. Directed by Challengers and Call Me by Your Name filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, the film stars Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man) as the controversial OpenAI CEO,Ike Barinholtz (The Studio) as Elon Musk, Monica Barbaro (Top Gun: Maverick) as Mira Murati, and more.

Months after Amazon deepened its ties with OpenAI, Amazon MGM Studios has dropped plans to release Luca Guadagnino's star-studded movie aboutSam Altmanand the leadership crisis that nearly toppled him.
"We believe that 'Artificial' will be better served if it were released by a different studio and are working closely with the filmmaking team to find the film a new home," an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement.
