Chennai, Jul 20 (PTI) Nearly two years ahead of the Assembly election in 2026, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Friday constituted a committee comprising senior DMK leaders and youth wing secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin to recommend changes to the party organisation in order to face the polls.

CHENNAI:Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin on Saturday challenged the Leader of Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami to press the Union government to implement the women's reservation law without conditions.
While campaigning in Tiruppur for candidates of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance, Stalin said, "If he (EPS) has the courage, he should demand that the Centre pass women's reservation without linking it to other conditions."
Referring to the DMK's protests against delimitation, Stalin said the party's black flag agitation has "pushed back the saffron flag", and claimed that the resistance that began in Namakkal has spread nationwide, ultimately defeating the Union government's move in Parliament.
Targeting the Centre's policies, Stalin alleged that industrial hubs, like Tiruppur, were losing their identity, and questioned how parties could seek votes despite such concerns.
Highlighting his government's performance, he said several welfare initiatives under the ‘Dravidian Model’ had been replicated elsewhere, describing the DMK as the "original" people-centric government.

Stalin was speaking at a Gram Sabha meeting organised by the DMK at a village near Omalur in Salem district.
Stalin, who is also the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, appealed to the striking workers to return to duty in the interest of students and people, which they did so later. He said that the teachers and employees should understand that they cannot expect fairness and justice from Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.
Alleging that the CM and his ministers have demonstrated that they have no concern in holding talks with the striking JACTTO-GEO members, Stalin condemned the CM for functioning in an autocratic manner by threatening to suspend, dismiss and arrest the striking workers.
Referring to the submission of the government in the Madras High Court, categorically ruling out talks with the striking workers, Stalin said the CM was neither interested in the administration of the state nor being humane. He said that it was evident from the agitation, which has been happening since January 22, that the government lacks the maturity and experience to resolve the issue through amicable talks.

Stalin Slams Centre's MGNREGS Overhaul Amid "Punishment of Success" Warning
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has launched a fierce attack on the BJP-led central government over plans to rename and restructure MGNREGS. He accuses the Centre of attempting to erase Mahatma Gandhi's legacy and dilute the scheme's spirit with an "unpronounceable" new name. Stalin warns that shifting to a 60% central funding model will cripple the program and burden states. He cautions the BJP to expect massive public resistance, similar to the protests that forced a rollback of the farm laws.

Former Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin on Wednesday strongly accused the ruling Tamilaga Vettli Kazhagam (TVK) of engaging in horse-trading and dirty politics to claim a majority in the state assembly. Stalin alleged that TVK's activities would shatter the trust of the people who paved the way for the government to be formed.
Stalin said those who came to power talking about clean politics are now practicing dirty politics. He accused TVK of trying to fish in troubled waters with the AIADMK and buying their lawmakers. The DMK leader stated that even people who voted for TVK have started talking with regret.
The horse-trading allegations were first made against Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay by AMMK chief Dhinakaran on May 9. Dhinakaran alleged that TVK, in a desperate bid to form the government beca…

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) President MK Stalin on Sunday launched an attack against the TVK, raising questions and concerns over the successful tenure of the state government.
Addressing the gathering after former Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) MLA Panaiyur Babu joined DMK, Stalin said that the TVK-led has "compelled" discussion, despite the DMK assuring no criticism for the first six months of the new government.
"When this government assumed office, we had said we would refrain from criticism for six months. But within that period itself, circumstances have emerged that compel discussion. Many are already talking about it. The situation is such that people are wondering whether it can last even three months, let alone five or six months," he said.

Accepting full responsibility for the DMK's defeat in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, party President and former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Thursday called for unity, introspection and sweeping organisational reforms to revive the party after its unexpected electoral setback.
Addressing the crucial meeting of DMK district Secretaries at the party headquarters Anna Arivalayam here, Stalin said there was no point in indulging in blame games following the defeat. "One is blaming another and pointing an accusing finger at someone else. There will be no end if we continue blaming one another. When I take pride in victory, I should also take responsibility for defeat. There is nothing wrong with it. It is only fair," he said.
The meeting assumes significance as it was the first major organisational gathering of the party after the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance lost power in the Assembly elections to Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-headed alliance.
Referring to the TVK’s dramatic electoral rise, Stalin described it as a "new and attractive magic tsunami" that had caused …

DMK presidentMK Stalin on Sunday launched a sharp attack on Tamil Nadu Chief MinisterVijay and his newly formed government, claiming the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) administration would not survive a full five-year term and was "running on the mercy" of the Dravidian party.
Addressing party workers, Stalin described the outcome of the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly election as a "cinema tsunami" rather than a political wave, arguing that voters had backed Vijay out of enthusiasm for a popular film star rather than political conviction.
"People voted in excitement because their favourite actor launched a party. In a few days, they will lose interest in this toy," Stalin said. He added that voters would eventually "search for the DMK again, just like a child looks for its mother".
The former Chief Minister alsoquestioned the stability of the TVK-led government, pointing out that the party had failed to cross the majority mark of 118 seats on its own.
"They could not even secure a majority. Today, the government is surviving because of our mercy. Anytime, any day, it can fall," he said.

Chennai, Apr 11 (PTI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has strongly criticised the Centre over the women’s reservation and accused it of trying to use it as a “weapon” to tackle the opposition before taking up the delimitation exercise based on population.
“The Union government is not concerned about implementing reservations for women. If their concerns were genuine, they could have done it right away. Rather than doing that, the BJP-led Centre is thinking of using it as a weapon to tackle opposition and take up the delimitation exercise based on population,” he told PTI in an interview.
“Hence, the women’s reservation must be implemented immediately without showing delimitation as a reason,” the DMK president added.

DMK president MK Stalin on Saturday asserted that the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government remained in power only due to the grace of his party and its allies, and urged party workers to pledge to bring an end to the administration led by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay.
Addressing a gathering in Chennai to welcome more than 1,000 AIADMK workers who joined the DMK, Stalin said he had not opposed his allies' decision to support the TVK after the Assembly elections.
"When they (alliance parties) informed me of their plans, I told them, you may go, it is your choice and your democratic right; I will not stop you. I saw them off with the sole intention of preventing the imposition of President's rule in the state, which could have paved the way for BJP rule in Tamil Nadu," he said.
