US Funded Biolabs Exposed: Tulsi Gabbard ODNI Bombshell
US Funded Biolabs Exposed: Tulsi Gabbard ODNI Bombshell
On June 12, 2026, the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence under Tulsi Gabbard released declassified documents confirming that American taxpayers funded over 120 biomedical laboratories across more than 30 countries. These US funded biolabs, rooted in post-Cold War threat reduction programs, upgraded facilities in Ukraine and beyond to handle dangerous pathogens like anthrax, plague, and tularemia. While many supported legitimate disease surveillance, the declassified biolabs documents expose serious oversight gaps, risky gain-of-function research, and vulnerabilities in conflict zones. Tulsi Gabbard ODNI’s transparency push highlights how previous administrations downplayed these programs, eroding public trust. The revelations drive major policy shifts, including stricter controls on overseas high-risk experiments and renewed focus on accountable biosecurity. This moment offers America a chance to lead with honesty—protecting citizens, restoring confidence, and balancing global health cooperation with unbreakable safety standards.

Declassified documents on the funding of more than 120 biolabs in more than 30 countries have been released in the US. Among the countries mentioned is Ukraine, states Director of National Intelligence
Tulsi Gabbard.
What has been released
After several months of reviewing intelligence community archives, materials have been published detailing funding for more than 120 biolabs in more than 30 countries.
According to the agency, some of these laboratories were funded by American taxpayers, and information about the program's scale was intentionally concealed for a long time.
What is said about Ukraine
The documents claim that one of the laboratories in Ukraine, which allegedly received US funding, may have stored dangerous pathogens and remained vulnerable to the risk of seizure, damage, or attack in wartime conditions.

US Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard has released new evidence that US-funded biological laboratories in Ukraine were researching dangerous pathogens. Washington previously denied any role in running these labs.
Published on Friday, the declassified documents reveal that the US
“built and supported”
40 biolabs in Ukraine, which worked with
“especially dangerous pathogens”
including anthrax, avian flu, Ebola, plague, and tuberculosis. At least 12 of these laboratories were carrying out human research.
Some of the laboratories were engaged in so-called ‘gain of function’ research, a controversial practice whereby animal viruses are modified to increase their virulence and transmissibility to study their effects on humans.
The partially-redacted documents state that the US paid for the construction and equipping of at least four laboratories, at a total cost of more than $9 million. They a…

US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has announced she will release previously classified intelligence revealing evidence of past US government funding for more than 120 biolabs across more than 30 countries, including Ukraine. The disclosure forms part of a sweeping White House review of overseas biological research facilities funded by American taxpayers, challenging previous official denials about the existence of these laboratories.
This announcement marks the most significant development in the White House's review of taxpayer-funded research labs operating abroad. More than 40 of these facilities are specifically located in Ukraine, complexes that Washington once claimed never existed. The investigation aims to identify where these labs are located, what pathogens they contain, and what

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has
declassified new intelligence
material that she claims reveals longstanding U.S. government funding for more than 120 biological laboratories across more than 30 countries, reopening questions about oversight of overseas pathogen research and the extent of public knowledge about those programs.
The intelligence dump goes beyond the debate that surrounded Ukrainian laboratories during the early stages of Russia’s invasion. The Intelligence Community identified a global network of U.S.-funded facilities, according to Gabbard, many of which have conducted research involving hazardous and highly contagious pathogens.

The director of US National Intelligence (DNI) has released evidence that her office says shows "longstanding" United States government funding for more than 120 biolabs in over 30 countries where research on biological pathogens, some dangerous, is conducted.
"These biolabs include labs in Ukraine, which may be at risk of compromise due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war," the DNI's office said in astatementon June 12.
"For example, the Intelligence Community previously warned that a US-funded biolab in Ukraine likely housed dangerous pathogens and remained vulnerable to longstanding threats of Russian attack, seizure, or damage," it added.
The unusual move by Tulsi Gabbard came just days before her departure as DNI, which oversees an intergovernmental office set up to coordinate information sharing among the sprawling US intelligence community. It wasn't immediately clear why Gabbard was releasing the information. Nor was it clear that it contained anything new or revelatory.
For years, under something called the Cooperative Threat Reduction program, the US government has funded efforts t…

The United States has helped build and financially support more than 40 biolaboratories in Ukraine, including a facility in Kharkiv that likely contains “dangerous pathogens,” according to documents declassified by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and made public on June 12.
The labs in Ukraine “could be at risk of compromise due to the ongoing Russia–Ukraine war,” Gabbard, who is exiting the Trump administration later in the month to help care for her husband after he was diagnosed with cancer, said in a video statement.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard declassified a trove of intelligence documents Friday revealing two dozen biological laboratories in Ukraine, including facilities storing pathogens from the old Soviet bioweapons program, in a move that directly contradicts years of official denials and accusations leveled at anyone who raised the subject.
The declassified materials, released by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, show that a lab in Odessa, a city of more than one million people, has stored biological agents from the defunct Soviet biological weapons program. Viruses and bacteria in storage include anthrax, tularemia, tuberculosis, Swine Fever, MERS, SARS, Marburg, Ebola, Lassa, the Plague, and Rickettsia. The Odessa lab and four others in Ukraine are biosafety level three facilities, the second-highest level of containment.
Gabbard is leaving her post on June 19 to care for her husband following his cancer diagnosis, which she announced May 22. She has spent her final days in office pushing to declassify documents she says serve the public interest. The

Tulsi Gabbard's last pass to Russia
Outgoing U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard's declassification of intelligence that she claims reveals U.S. funding for biological laboratories, including in Ukraine, was quickly amplified by Russian propaganda bot networks, the Kyiv Independent has learned.
The claims themselves are hardly new.
Russian propaganda outlets have pushed variations of the same narrative for years, and Gabbard herself promoted similar allegations before joining the Trump administration.
