Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's cross-examination concluded on Tuesday after months of testimony in his ongoing trial.
The final hearing focused largely on Case 2000 and was marked by a tense atmosphere, including several heated exchanges between Netanyahu and members of the prosecution team.
At the outset of the session, Netanyahu challenged the basis of the charges related to his contacts with
Yedioth Ahronoth
publisher Arnon (Noni) Mozes.
“Raz Nizri, then deputy attorney general, said at the time that he did not think a crime had been committed, so how was I supposed to know there was an offense here? Even Reuven Rivlin was shocked by that claim. Who ever thought that interactions between a …

Netanyahu Ends Court Testimony, Slams Prosecution | EFE
Tel Aviv, June 24 (EFE).- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday concluded his testimony in the corruption trial, with a scathing attack on prosecutors, whom he compared to East Germany’s notorious Stasi secret police and accused of conducting a campaign of «persecution.»
The Israeli prime minister ended more than a year of court appearances in a case in which he faces charges of fraud, bribery, and breach of trust.
«They weren’t looking for a crime. They were looking for a man. All this disproportionate effort was aimed at getting Netanyahu’s head,» the prime minister told the Tel Aviv District Court.
“They haven’t found anything because nothing happened,” he added, referring to the case against him, which is still ongoing.
Netanyahu described the prosecution as «the Stasi, simply the Stasi,» referring to the former East German intelligence and security agency.
He also said the investigation against him was characteristic of a «police state.»
«After 10 years of hell, leading this country through no easy challenges, I seek one thing: to bring out the truth,» Netanyahu said, concluding his remarks. He is …

Israeli prosecutors on Tuesday completed the final cross-examination of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his corruption trial, ending more than a year of questioning.
"I have no more questions," Yoni Tadmor of the State Attorney’s Office told judges on Tuesday afternoon.
Netanyahu is expected to take the stand for several more days for re-examination by his defense attorneys before concluding his testimony.
The prime minister's testimony before the Jerusalem District Court began in December 2024 and has spanned nearly 100 hearings, according to Hebrew media.
Judges on Tuesday rejected a request by Netanyahu's defense team to shorten the hearing because of regional security tensions, and proceedings continued as scheduled.
The final day of cross-examination was reportedly marked by heated exchanges, with Netanyahu at times raising his voice and sharply criticizing prosecutors.
"There has never been anything like what you've done to me! It's disgraceful," the premier exclaimed at one point. "What you've done to me, you haven't done to any other public official! You've dragged everyone into this w…

Prosecutor Yoni Tadmor informed the judges that she had no further questions for the

, bringing to a close one of the most dramatic chapters in Israeli legal history. The conclusion came after a final day marked by exceptionally high tensions, with Netanyahu losing his composure and unleashing a frontal assault on the State Attorney's Office.
Despite requests from Netanyahu's defense team Monday to shorten proceedings due to the intense pressure, the judges rejected the motion and the hearing continued as scheduled until its planned conclusion.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday claimed his associates have likened the prosecution to the former East Germany’s “Stasi,” and accused them of conducting a political trial like that in a “police state,” during an outburst in court, as his cross-examination in his criminal trial ended after over a year of hearings, amid repeated delays.
Judges shortened Tuesday’s hearing to 2:30 p.m. instead of 4:30 p.m., as the prime minister requested to leave early on apparent diplomatic and security grounds. On Wednesday, the next stage is set to begin, in which Netanyahu’s defense lawyers will ask follow-up questions in their redirect examination.
Tuesday’s hearing centered on Case 2000, in which the premier is charged with fraud and breach of trust over allegations he planned an arrangement with Yedioth Ahronoth publisher Arnon Mozes under which Netanyahu would receive favorable media coverage from the publication and, in return, advance legislation to weaken Yediot’s rival newspaper Israel Hayom in 2014.
That paper, bankrolled by now-deceased American billionaire Sheldon Adelson and previously considered very …
