BCCI has officially announced that KKR star Harshit Rana has completed his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) and will be joining the India squad for the final ODI of the three-match series against Afghanistan in Chennai. Still, the decision allows Rana to get some crucial game time after missing the T20 World Cup and IPL 2026 due to knee surgery.
"The Men's Selection Committee has added Mr Harshit Rana to the India squad for the third and final ODI against Afghanistan. Mr Rana, who has completed his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE), has linked up with the ODI squad in Chennai," BCCI stated in their official release.

Harshit Rana added to India squad for third ODI against Afghanistan
India pacer Harshit Rana has been added to the squad for the third and final ODI against Afghanistan in Chennai after completing his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). Rana, who has recovered from a knee injury, linked up with the Indian squad ahead of the final match of the three-ODI series at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday, June 20.
The 24-year-old had been ruled out of the 2026 T20 World Cupafter suffering a knee injury during India's warm-up match against South Africa in Navi Mumbai. The setback also forced the Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder to miss the entire IPL 2026 season. India, however, went on to lift the T20 World Cup title in his absence.
While Rana has been added to the ODI squad, his inclusion is primarily aimed at helping him reintegrate into the international setup following a lengthy spell on the sidelines. He has already been named in India's squad for the upcoming T20I tours of Ireland and England later this month.
The team management views Rana as a long-term seam-bowling all-rounder option and is keen on developing him alongside Nitish Kumar Reddy as part of …

Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out of India's England and Ireland ODI series 2026 with quadriceps injury — replacement options
India have been dealt another injury setback ahead of the upcoming ODI assignments against Ireland and England, with all-rounder
Nitish Kumar Reddy
ruled out after sustaining a quadriceps injury. The injury, which first became evident during the second ODI against Afghanistan, has now been confirmed through an MRI scan that revealed swelling and fibre disruption in his left quadriceps. As a result, the youngster is expected to spend several weeks in rehabilitation before beginning his return-to-play program.
Reddy's absence comes at a particularly difficult time for the Indian team, which is already grappling with fitness concerns surrounding key players. Hardik Pandya remains unavailable due to a quadriceps niggle that has limited his ability to bowl in the 50-over format, while Virat Kohli's participation in the England series is still dependent on his recovery and fitness assessmen…
