Alleged Bondi Shooters Conducted 'Tactical' Training in Countryside ... Two suspects in last week's deadly mass shooting at Australia's Bondi Beach trained for the attack in the countryside, police alleged in court documents Monday, as Prime Minister Anthony Albanese vowed tougher laws against hate speech and extremism. Father and son Sajid Akram and Naveed are accused of targeting a Hanukkah event on Bondi Beach, killing 15 people in the nation's deadliest mass shooting in almost three decades. Police documents released Monday said the two had carried out "firearms training" in what was believed to be the New South Wales countryside prior to the shooting. Pictures were released showing the accused firing shotguns and moving in what authorities described as a "tactical manner". The pair also recorded a video in October railing against "Zionists" while sitting in front of a flag of the ISIS group and detailing their motivations for the attack, police said. And they made a nighttime "reconnaissance" trip to Bondi Beach just days before the killings, documents showed. Australia observed a minute's silence at 6:47 pm (0747 GMT) on Sunday -- exactly a week since the first reports of gu…

Stronger safeguards for gun holders are being ushered in after the worst terror attack in modern Australian history.
Stronger safeguards for gun holders are being ushered in after the worst terror attack in modern Australian history. The NSW government measures starting on Wednesday come after 15 people were killed by a father and son at a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi beach on December 14. The most consequential change will be powers given to the NSW Police commissioner to veto any state resident from acquiring a gun permit if there are terrorism-related concerns. The commissioner must be satisfied the applicant has never been investigated by a federal or state law enforcement or intelligence agency for terrorism-related offences. The applicant must also not be residing or associating with a person who has been investigated for terrorism-related offences. The changes were about public safety and were not an assault on gun ownership, NSW Police Minister Yasmin Catley said."Owning a firearm is a privilege, not a right," she said. "We're increasing oversight, reducing risk and will ultimately reduce the number of firearms in the community." One of the gunmen, Naveed Akram, had been investigated for terrorism offences and lived with the other gunman, his father Sajid Akram, at the time of the…

AUSTRALIA investigated in Kings Cross, New South Wales, Australia
Two men have been charged after an imitation pistol was allegedly pointed at people gathered outside a synagogue. Police were called to Sydney's Chabad Double Bay after reports a man inside a car was pointing what looked like a gun towards congregants in front of the building on Saturday. Officers followed the car to Kings Cross where they arrested two men and searched their car, allegedly finding an imitation firearm. Executive Council of Australian Jewry co-chief executive Alex Ryvchin said the alleged incident was disturbing coming just months after a shooting massacre that targeted the Jewish community. "Threatening and terrifying Jews for laughs. Well done to the police for their swift action," Mr Ryvchin said. A 22-year-old was charged with using an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, possessing an unauthorised pistol and stalking. A 25-year-old man was charged with possession of an unauthorised pistol. The pair were refused bail to appear in court on Sunday. Chabad Double Bay is part of the same broader organisation as Chabad Bondi, which put on the Hannukah event that was targeted by the gunmen in the Bondi Massacre in December. During tha…
