The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD)has unveiled a new outreach initiative: the construction of 1,000 Sri Venkateswara temples in villages across Andhra Pradesh. The stated goal is to “promote and preserve Sanatana Dharma” among the village communities.
The TTD Board has resolved that in every assembly constituency, up to six temples will be built, funded via the Srivani Trust. TheSrivani Trust, originally established for supporting temple construction in underserved colonies, is expected to finance this programme.
TTDchairman B.R. Naiduhas said the move is part of a broader “Community outreach” strategy, aiming to strengthen the Hindu religious identity in these communities.
Although, the critics are mocking this outreach initiative of TTD citing the socio-political intention, devotees of Lord Venkateshwara are welcoming this move and considering it as a blessing of Lord Venkateshwara in their locality. The temples have always been a center of community development in the villages from time immemorial. A temple plays a vital role in the betterment of lives of villagers.
