NEW YORK (TNND) —Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said during a recent interview that former President Joe Biden made a "terrible mistake" by deciding to seek reelection in 2024.
"He made a terrible mistake," the former secretary of state said. "He made a terrible mistake for himself, his legacy, and for the country."
She argued in an interview with New Yorker editor David Remnick that Democrats could have defeated President Donald Trump if Biden had stepped aside and passed the torch to the next generation.
"We would have had a real contest," Clinton said.
"And very sadly I believe whoever emerged from that contest, whether it was the vice president or a governor or a senator or anybody else, would have beaten Donald Trump," she continued. "So I think it was a terrible miscalculation on the part of President Biden."
House Democratscalled for Biden to drop out of the race in 2024, citing widespread public concerns about his age and fitness that they feared could jeopardize the party's chances of winning.

Former presidential candidate and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has branded Joe Biden’s decision to run for a second term as a “terrible mistake” that she says cost Democrats the 2024 presidential election and gave Donald Trump the White House.
“He made a terrible mistake,” Clinton said in a recent interview that CBS News shared on Tuesday, June 16. “He made a terrible mistake for himself, his legacy, and for the country.”
Clinton argued that Biden should have stepped aside earlier and allowed a competitive primary to choose the party’s nominee.

Biden entered the 2024 race as the incumbent, despite questions about his age and fitness that became louder as the campaign progressed.

Why Hillary Clinton thinks Biden cost Democrats the White House
Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said President Joe Biden made a “terrible mistake” by seeking a second term in 2024, arguing that his decision left Democrats in a difficult position and ultimately contributed to Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
Speaking at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan, the 2016 Democratic nomineeargued he had reneged on an earlier commitment to step aside, calling that broken promise catastrophic, The Guardian reported.
Hillary said, “He made a terrible mistake for himself, his legacy, and for the country.”
She described his decision to stay in the race as a terrible miscalculation and said once Biden refused to step aside and held on for as long as he did, it left the party in a deeply difficult position.
Hillary added,“Once [Biden] didn’t move and did not, you know, admit that he had said he was going to step aside, and then decided not to, and held on for as long as he did, we were in a terrible dilemma.”
Biden withdrew from the race in July 2024 following a widely criticised debate performance against Trump. Vice President Kamala Harris subsequently became the Demo…
