Three India-flagged crude oil tankers, each carrying 2,85,000 metric tonnes of crude oil, one foreign-flag LPG carrier, one foreign-flag crude oil tanker, and six foreign-flag bulk carriers carrying fertiliser crossed through the Strait of Hormuz, the MEA spokesperson said.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared in a press briefing on Tuesday that 11 India-bound vessels have safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz since the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran; 10 are still in the Persian Gulf, while two additional Indian ships have crossed into the Persian Gulf from the western side.
“We have 10 Indian-flagged vessels still in the Persian Gulf region. In addition, two Indian ships have crossed from this side into the Persian Gulf. Since the signing of the MoU on June 17, eleven India-bound vessels have crossed the Strait of Hormuz,” said the MEA spokesperson.

on the rise, at least 37 Indian-flagged ships, along with 1,109 crew members, are stuck in the region around the Strait of Hormuz, sparking safety and potential trade worries for India.
These ships are located in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, with some ships awaiting cargo and some already fully loaded.

The development comes as India closely monitors the situation in the Persian Gulf, a critical route for the country’s crude oil, LPG and fertiliser imports, following months of disruptions linked to the West Asia conflict.
“As of today, we have 10 Indian-flagged vessels which are still in the Persian Gulf region. In addition, two have recently arrived there. Since the signing of the MoU on June 17, 11 India-bound vessels have transited through the Strait of Hormuz,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at a media briefing.
The vessels that crossed include three Indian-flagged crude oil tankers carrying more than 285,000 metric tonnes (MT) of crude oil each, one foreign-flagged LPG carrier, one foreign-flagged crude tanker and six foreign-flagged bulk carriers transporting fertiliser cargoes.

Three Indian-flagged crude oil tankers carrying more than 8.6 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of crude oil have safely transited the strategically important Strait of Hormuz and are now en route to Indian ports, providing reassurance over the continuity of energy supplies amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the region.
The vessels — Desh Vaibhav, Desh Vibhor and Sanmar Herald — are carrying a combined crude cargo of approximately 8,60,865 MT and are expected to arrive at ports in Gujarat and Odisha over the coming days.
Desh Vaibhav, carrying 2,86,572 MT of crude oil, is scheduled to arrive at Vadinar port in Gujarat on June 24. The tanker has 37 Indian crew members on board.
Desh Vibhor, loaded with 2,88,893 MT of crude oil, is expected to reach Sikka port in Gujarat on June 24. The vessel is manned by 27 Indian crew members.
Meanwhile, Sanmar Herald is transporting 2,85,400 MT of crude oil and is slated to arrive at Paradip port in Odisha on July 1. The tanker has a crew of 30 Indian nationals.

The Indian National Shipowners’ Association (INSA) has confirmed the presence of these ships and urged the government to intervene. In a statement, the association said around 37 Indian-flagged vessels are operating in the region to support the country’s energy needs and many of them have Indian seafarers onboard. It requested authorities to help ensure safe passage for these ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

New Delhi: India’s shipments of crude oil, LPG and LNG remain stranded in the Persian Gulf, with vessels awaiting clearance to pass through the Strait of Hormuz amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
According to Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Special Secretary in the Shipping Ministry, 22 Indian-flagged ships are currently stuck on the western side of the strait, carrying about 1.67 million tonnes of crude oil, 3.2 lakh tonnes of LPG, and nearly 2 lakh tonnes of LNG.
When hostilities began following US-Israel strikes on Iran, a total of 28 Indian-flagged vessels were in the region, with 24 on the western side and four on the eastern side of the strait. Over the past week, two vessels from each side have managed to move to safer waters.
“All 611 seafarers on the 22 vessels on the western side are safe,” Sinha said. On the eastern side, three Indian-flagged vessels remain after another ship joined them.
