his infamous arrest last year,
opening up about being diagnosed with bipolar disorder, going through rehab and therapy and confirming that he has new music in the works.
“I’ve been in rehab for a few months, and since then I’ve been back at home, whether that’s in Atlanta with my family, or in Los Angeles with myself and friends or what not and trying to ground myself down to earth and get out of my head,” the rapper said in a video filmed outside, smiling at the camera throughout the whole recording. “I have a therapist now and a psychiatrist which has been really helpful.”

NEW YORK (AP) — The musicianLil Nas Xposted a moving video update to his Instagram on Wednesday morning. In the nearly three-minute clip, the artist — born Montero Lamar Hill — shared that he “has been in rehab for a few months,” and since then, has returned home to both Atlanta, where he is from and his family lives, and Los Angeles, where he resides.
The update comes in response to an event last summer in which the musician was charged withattacking Los Angeles police officers.
In April, a judge allowed the 27-year-old to entera mental health diversion programintended to lead to the charges being dismissed. The musician was eligible for the program because the court found that the encounter involving police was the result of his since-diagnosed bipolar disorder and appeared to be an aberration compared with his usual behavior.

Lil Nas X says he is "doing much better" after receiving care for bipolar disorder at a mental health treatment facility following his arrest in Los Angeles last year.
The rapper, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, wasarrested in Augustand taken to a hospitalafter he was seen roaming nearly naked down a street in Los Angeles. The 27-year-old was subsequently charged with three felony counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one felony count of resisting an executive officer, to which he pleaded not guilty.
In April, a Los Angeles judge granted the rapper mental health diversion,saying at the timethat the charges against him could be dismissed if he completed a mental treatment program and didn't break the law for the next two years.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the rapper was taken into custody after he attempted to “batter an officer.” He has since been charged with four felonies.
