I wouldn't hand it to Patagonia, but the drag activist in question filed their own trademark to sell clothing under "Pattie Gonia" and that Patagonia cannot allow. Even if Pattie's intentions are pure, the mark could be sold; so whoever told them to file for a mark is the one in the wrong here.
