From Spain trade to Greenland threats: Key points from Trump's NATO comments
US President Donald Trump lashed out at NATO allies Wednesday at a summit in Ankara, as the fallout from his war with Iran threatened to overshadow the key gathering. Trump declared the Iran ceasefire was "over", then took aim at NATO allies who failed to back his campaign against Tehran. And he insisted he still wanted Greenland, calling European resistance to his stance a "big problem". Angela Diffley takes a look at some of the main takeaways from the US president's remarks.
During the NATO summit in Turkey, Trump expressed frustration with allies and declared the Iran ceasefire over following mutual strikes in the Strait of Hormuz.

Don of disorder: Allies duck as Trump picks fights from Madrid to Tehran
President Trump's recent actions have disrupted peace talks and strained relations with NATO allies. He declared the Iran peace deal over and threatened further military action. Trump also criticized Spain and Denmark, and insulted Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. These unpredictable decisions create deep anxiety among European nations regarding US security commitments. Alliances once considered permanent now appear dependent on one man's personal preferences and moods.

Trump slams NATO allies for not joining Iran war effort - CNBC
PresidentDonald Trumpon Tuesday slammed the U.S.'NATO alliesover their reluctance to get involved in theIran war, before asserting that the U.S. does not need any help with its ongoingmilitary operations.
The alliance of 32 European and North American nations is "making a very foolish mistake," Trump said in the Oval Office during a meeting with the prime minister of Ireland, which is not a NATO member.
Trump, a longtime NATO critic who has accused the organization of taking advantage of the U.S.' spending and military strength, called the members' hesitance to join the Iran war "a great test, because we don't need them, but they should have been there."
Trump has claimed in recent days that numerous countries would bejoining a coalitionto aid the U.S. in Iran, including by helping to secure the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil shipping route that has been choked off amid the war.
He hascalled on"the Countries of the World that receive Oil through the Hormuz Strait" to "take care of that passage." But so far,no NATO countrieshave firmly committed to doing so.
