Prince Harry Loses Landmark Privacy Case Against Daily Mail Publisher
Prince Harry Loses Landmark Privacy Case Against Daily Mail Publisher Prince Harry gave evidence in the trial in January Getty Prince Harry has lost his high-profile press intrusion lawsuit against one of the UK’s most powerful newspaper groups. The Duke of Sussex, alongside other claimants including Liz Hurley and Elton John, accused The Daily Mail publisher of unlawful information gathering, including “abhorrent criminal activity and gross breaches of privacy.” All the claims have been dismissed, with High Court Judge Mr Justice Nicklin saying that the aggrieved parties had failed to prove their allegations. A summary of the judgment read: “The Court rejected the attempt to prove the claims by broad inference where there remained a legitimate and realistic possible lawful source pathway, or where the article-specific evidence did not prove that the relevant information must have been obtained unlawfully.” Related Stories News Prince Harry & Meghan Markle's Archewell Developing Movie Based On 'No Way Out' War Memoir For Netflix With Matt Charman News British Comedy Is "Prince Harry Of The TV Royal Family," Jokes BBC Comedy Chief Jon Petrie The lawsuit further alleged that Associa…

Unattributed party made statement UNITED KINGDOM in Buckingham Palace, Westminster, United Kingdom
Prince Harry is set to discover the result of his High Court case against the Daily Mail's publisher as he returns to England. Harry will be in the country when the judgment is published on Tuesday afternoon UK time (Tuesday night AEST), after an 11-week trial earlier in 2026 in his claim against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) over alleged unlawful information gathering. A group of household names including Elton John and his husband David Furnish alleged acts including voicemail interception, landline tapping and obtaining information by deception - also known as "blagging", carried out by private investigators, freelance journalists and ANL staff. ANL strongly denies the claims and defended the case, saying it has established "a complete defence to all parts of the claims on the merits" and that the cases have been brought too late. The judge is set to give his written ruling on the case via email at 2pm local time (11pm AEST). The decision comes as Harry's accommodation arrangements for his UK visit descended into chaos, ahead of five days of appearances in London and Birmingham, including marking the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games. Unattributed party consulted PRINCE in London, London, City of, United Kingdom
London:Prince Harry has lost a major court claim against a British publisher over his personal privacy, in a sweeping defeat he shares with celebrities such as Elton John and Liz Hurley. The High Court ruled that the Duke of Sussex and the other claimants had failed to prove their allegations, and it dismissed their claims on all counts. Harry and others accusedThe Daily Mail, one of the country’s most powerful newspapers, of using illegal ploys such as phone hacking to get its news. They also claimed it used “blagging” – a practice in which a journalist makes false claims to trick people into divulging information. Hurley and John joined Harry in the case, which was estimated to cost £38.8 million ($78 million) in legal bills and required weeks of testimony in court earlier this year. The owner of the media outlet, Associated Newspapers, vigorously denied any wrongdoing over stories that appeared between 1993 and 2018. The decision has implications for Jonathan Vere Harmsworth, the hereditary peer Viscount Rothermere, whose great-grandfather founded The Daily Mail in 1896. One claim against the paper was that its journalists unlawfully obtained details of a “private and int…
