Crews responded to Cleveland Cliffs for chemical leak earlier this morning.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center around 6:30 a.m.
According to Cliffs officials, the leak happened in one of the process tanks within the internal containment area at the facility.
While an initial call to the dispatchers said an acid leak potentially went into the Connoquenessing Creek, Cliffs officials say it was contained to the facility.
The county’s HAZMAT team was called, along with local fire departments.
Officials say cleanup efforts are underway.

Butler County HAZMAT Team 100 is responding to a reported acid leak Tuesday morning, June 16, at Cleveland Cliffs’ Butler Works plant, according to Butler County Emergency Services dispatch.
The leak was reported at 6:34 a.m., and crews were still on the scene an hour later. Butler Township Volunteer Fire District also responded.

LYNDORA, Pa. — Hazmat crews were called to the Cleveland Cliffs plant in Butler County for a spill on Tuesday morning, 911 dispatchers tell Channel 11.
The 911 call came in around 6:30 a.m. regarding the incident at 1 Armco Drive in Lyndora.
Pat Persico, spokesperson for Cleveland Cliffs, told Channel 11 that there was a leak from one of the process tanks, and it has been contained.
Cleanup efforts are now underway.
Persico said there is no impacts to production.
No other information was immediately available.

Hazmat crews rushed to the Cleveland-Cliffs Butler Works plant in Lyndora early Tuesday after an acid spill that made its way into the Connoquenessing Creek. The 911 call came in around 6:30 a.m., sending emergency responders to the sprawling industrial site at 1 Armco Drive. Officials kept details tight as teams worked the scene.
