President Donald Trump
announced
on Friday that he signed pardons for six people who he argued were “persecuted by the Biden Administration” for violating clean-air and emissions laws.
“It is my Great Honor to have just signed Pardons for six people who were persecuted by the Biden Administration, and were in, or being sent to, prison, for ‘fixing their car.’” Trump posted to Truth Social, adding that he believes they were victims of a weaponized Justice Department. “I AM SETTING THEM ALL FREE, RIGHT NOW!”
Trump did not identify those he said had been pardoned or offer more precise details on the allegations they faced.
The president met with senior officials earlier on Friday to discuss the slate of new pardons, a senior White House official told CNN. They said the pardons relate to people who have been convicted of violating the Clean Air A…

US President Donald Trump has pardoned nine people who helped bypass emissions control systems on vehicles.
Trump has issued a slew of pardons in his second term, particularly for allies, public figures and those seen as politically aligned.
His use of the presidency's sweeping ability to unilaterally grant pardons and commute sentences is among the ways the Republican's return to office has featured an expansive use of executive power.
"It is my Great Honour to have just signed Pardons for six people who were persecuted by the Biden Administration, and were in, or being sent to, prison, for 'fixing their car,'" Trump wrote on his Truth Social media network.
"I AM SETTING THEM ALL FREE, RIGHT NOW!" he said.

US PresidentDonald Trumphas announced that he has granted pardons to six people he says were unfairly prosecuted by theBidenadministration for “fixing their car.” While Trump framed the cases as examples of government overreach, White House officials have clarified that the convictions stemmed from violations of the Clean Air Act, not routine vehicle repairs.
The announcement was made Friday in a post on Truth Social, where Trump argued that the six individuals had been victims of what he called the “weaponization” of the Justice Department.
In his Truth Social post, Trump wrote: “It is my Great Honor to have just signed Pardons for six people who were persecuted by the Biden Administration, and were in, or being sent to, prison, for ‘fixing their car.’”
Calling the prosecutions an example of the “Weaponization and Stupidity” under former President Joe Biden, Trump added: “I AM SETTING THEM ALL FREE, RIGHT NOW!”
Trump did not identify the six individuals or provide details about their cases.

The White House did not immediately provide a list of the names of the six defendants pardoned, but lawyer Stewart Cables and lobbyist Jeff Daugherty, who are representing five of the six defendants, identified them to CBS News. They said Ryan and Wade Lalone, Matt Geouge, Tim Clancy and Mac Spurlock received presidential pardons.
Daugherty told CBS News, "Thanks to God for putting it on Trump's heart to approve these pardons, and thank God for Donald Trump." He said that Mr. Trump "is the only president who would have taken an interest in these parties, and the reason is he's the only president to face such ferocious weaponization himself."
Daugherty and Cables were informed of the pardons by the White House.
